I have suffered from migraines for about 8 years ... but for past 19 months my problem has been constant headache as a result of surgery to remove a brain tumor ... I found this forum when researching lyrica...
I had the tumor removed July 2007 after watching it for 3 years and it didn't grow...a I had hormonal change had me bleeding 15 or so days out of the month then off 10 and then on again for 15... during this time the tumor went from a BB sized nuisance in October 2006 to a pear shaped thing with big end marble sized in April... they think hormones played a part in the accelerated growth spurt it took... it was growing against the brain stem and doctors feared it would stop my breathing ...
they gave me 4 month to set things in order and have surgery ... but I had reached the point that I was weak from blood loss because I couldn't make blood as fast as I was losing it and neuro and gyn thought I needed hysterectomy before brain surgery so I would be stronger for that ...so in May I had hysterectomy and then in July had brain surgery ...
My head was turned to the left (tumor was on right side ) and clamped into place for 7+ hours ... this caused nerve and tendon damage from shoulder running up neck and across the back and right side of my head ... I have not been headache free for a day since surgery ...some are worse than others and have landed in hospital twice when I got into a pain /vomiting /more pain / more vomiting cycle and couldn't get it stopped with the hydrocodone I have on hand ...
I just started far don't feel any changes except severe fatigue which was already an issue ... doctor said give body time to adjust ... so waiting and hoping this is going to be what works for me ...
the headache can be intensified or brought on by a sneeze , a cough , quick movement or just bending over ...I can no longer work at school because there are days I spend in bed ... but on good days I do volunteer at school to keep myself from just hiding from the world ...
look froward to sharing with you all and learning from others things that work for them... still have my migraines but they pale in comparison with what I call my brain wrecks
PS ...also have lupus and fibromyalgia and a host of oddities that go along with them ...joint and muscle pain ,intolerance to being in the sun for any length of time ...cold hands feet ,nose and ears ... hard to treat things when I have so much going on ...
but I get up and go each day because I have a 9 year old and an 11 year old that need me too... I also have 4 grown sons that have given me 8 grandkids I would like to enjoy... so I continue to seek what will make me more comfort able so I can enjoy my family ...
Should add I have an awesome husband who puts up with me even when I feel bad and take it out on him ... he pats my head and hugs me and tells me things will be alright ...I think I pick on him cause he doesn't rattle and stands by me through thick and thin ...and he loves me no matter what ...without him I would ahve cracked a long time ago
