Hi everyone. I've enjoyed reading the posts in this forum. My name is Dara and here's a short version of my history:

I had a few serious falls in my pubescent years with no medical attention or therapy - not sure if this is what started my migraines when I was about 16, but who knows...I suffered with migraines up until my late 20's and now I get them on occasion (maybe 6 per year). I had a back injury in my mid 20's and received therapy for this injury. I had one car jolt in my late 20's and one in my early 30's (I received therapy for the latter). I have never had allergies, but 4 years ago, I moved 1 hour from where I was formerly living and bam! I developed inner ear pressure and ear canal itchiness, as well as an itchy nose and swollen sinuses. I have since moved a few hours away and have been out of state, but my symptoms do not improve. I am 35 now just suffer from daily headaches.

I did not receive any medical attention for my migraines until I was in my mid 20's. I went through testing and was found that I have occipital neuralgia of the greater occipital nerves. I'm not huge on medications / steroids and was told that I would need to receive the nerve blocks every few months combined with a NSAI alternated with a steroidal anti-inflammatory for an indefinite time period. Well, I had two series of injections and 6 months of the NSAI and decided that this wasn't the route for me, although I did receive some relief. I was advised that I could have the surgery that severs the nerve, which can be very risky. I didn't realize that there are other effective and less invasive / dangerous procedures in existence.

In my mid 20's I received an MRI and CScan because of fatigue associated with headaches, as well as a full panel of blood work. All that was found is that my Carbon Monoxide level was high. When I was in my early 30's I visited an ENT who let me know that my ear drums are quite scarred and that I have a deviated septum. I was told that I could undergo surgery for both (still haven't), but was referred to an allergist first and was tested for allergies. Apparently I am allergic to everything under the sun...funny because I developed my "allergic response" within 1 week of moving only an hour away. I'm 6 months pregnant and the pain in my occipital region is lessened and I now only have cluster type headaches that feel like they are in my inner ears (especially the left), temples and mid section of my skull.

I've always been active and in good health. My mood is well, sometimes controlled by my discomfort. I try to stay positive and work through the pain. I also eat very well - mostly organic and rarely processed foods and drink plenty of water. Some days the headaches just get me down or moody. Overall, I think that I do what we all do and make the best of it day to day. I try to laugh as much as I can!!! I do not have insurance, so am limited to the amount of care that I receive. I'm optimistic that one day I'll be able to get to the bottom of this and be free of the pain.

Thanks for listening!!! and be well!!!

Oh yeah, on occasion I also get "hot" ears and these out of the blue searing, hot, painful, burning, almost paraletic twinges in my neck that last about 30 seconds or so.

I'm not a hypochondriac!!! I am in tune with how I feel!!!
