I was very pleased to find this site and look forward to joining the discussions very soon. I'm 37 years old, married, and have a 9 year old daughter. I work full-time as an instructor for Rescare, Inc.
I have chronic daily headaches that began in 2006 after being hit in the head at work. I've had a head CT and MRI with and without contrast which both came back negative. My neurologist has given me a diagnosis of post traumatic stress injury. Because of this I exhibit symptoms of migraine, cluster, and tension headaches on a random basis. Primarily my pain is located around both temples (with the tight banding). I also have pain behind my left eye and stiff neck. I typically have a headache everyday with a 3-5 on the pain scale and reach 7-8 on the pain scale about 3-4 times per week.
My current medication regiment includes: Nexium 40mg (once daily), Neurontin 300mg (three times daily; increasing 300mg per week until 3600mg per day is reached), Zonegran 50mg (three daily, increasing 50mg per week until 400mg per day is reached), Nortriptyline 100mg (once daily). These are my preventative medications. I also have the following pain medications: Ultraflex 4mg, Fioricet, Phenergan 25mg, and Loretab 5mg.
Here is a list of medications that I have used, which have not worked: Inderal Indomiacin Amitriptyline 50mg three times daily Topomax 75mg three times daily Lyrica 400mg once daily Imitrex Injections 6mg (d/c'd chest pain) Treximet (d/c'd chest pain) DHE Injections (d/c'd chest pain)
I also have to mention that I was making frequent trips to the ER for Stadol/Phenergan injections, but I now believe that I have become allergic to Stadol.
Well, thats it for now. I look forward to reading about many of you and getting involved in discussions.
